With no windbreak, the perimeter of the roof does the work. We pay particular attention to the starter course, the rake edge and the fastening pattern, because on an exposed Ripon property a wind failure almost always begins at an edge and peels inward from there.

Ridge caps are the recurring repair out here. They sit at the highest, most exposed line on the building and they lift first. Replacing them is a small job that prevents a much larger one.

Fences take the full brunt of the wind and sun out here, and they gray unevenly as a result. On a fence that has already weathered patchily, a higher-opacity stain gives you an even color and a much longer service life than a transparent one.
